【Setouchi Retreat Aonagi Facility Overview】
Enjoy art in the refined space of Ando Architecture.In December 2015, a small luxury hotel with a total of 7 rooms was born, renovated under the supervision of Tadao Ando, the designer of the famous building that was partially opened to the public as a museum. The concept of the hotel is “minimal luxury. Artworks are displayed throughout the hotel in the refined space of Ando’s architecture. In addition to a dining room that serves kaiseki cuisine using seasonal ingredients from the Seto Inland Sea, the hotel has two indoor and two outdoor swimming pools, and Shikoku’s first full-scale hotel spa.
Located to the east of Nakajima, the eastern side of the island commands a view of Nokutsuna Island. Citrus fruits such as mandarin oranges and iyokans are widely cultivated throughout the island. The village is located near the harbor, and old houses with magnificent gates called nagayamon can be seen in the alleys. The farm road that circles the two mountains, called Muzuki Skyline, is one of the best walking routes in the Kutsuna Islands, with a 15-kilometer stretch of spectacular views of the sea and mountains.

The building, once partially open as a museum, has been renovated. It has been reborn as a small luxury hotel overlooking the Seto Inland Sea.

Despite having only 7 rooms, we offer various facilities including the iconic 30m outdoor ‘Infinity Pool’ which connects to the Seto Inland Sea, and the indoor ‘Private Pool & Sauna’ featuring a hot spring jacuzzi and a sauna with a view of the garden. The outdoor pool is typically open for swimming from early July to early September, while the indoor pool can be reserved for private use throughout the year.
